Windmills (or windpumps) were once widely used throughout the world. The decline of the windmill was due to the most part from rural electrification in the areas that utilised them most. In modern times the windmill still is an economic and practical solution to water pumping in many regions and are used to supply water to livestock on many farms and outback stations in Australia.
