The sizing of a grid-connected system depends on a few main limiting factors. The system could be designed to replace all the energy used by the house occupants, the PV array may be llimited by available roof space or the limiting design criteria could be budget. It may be that the design is limited by all three of these criteria. A sytem is designed by first determining the size of the PV array then the grid-connect inverter is chosen to match the expected output of the chosen PV array.
