Professional Development & Training
The aim of RISE’s Professional Development & Training program is to provide seminars and professional development courses for industry, both nationally and internationally. The programs cover all aspects of sustainability as it relates to energy production, supply and use, energy efficiency, stand-alone power systems and sustainable energy technologies. RISE also has the capacity to provide workshops and seminars on GHG abatement issues, climate change policy & mitigation measures.
Renewable Energy Education
Murdoch Unviersity offers a full range of courses in renewable energy including:
Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Energy Management
Bachelor of Engineering in Renewable Energy Engineering
Postgraduate Diploma in Energy Studies
Master of Science in Renewable Energy
These courses may be studied on the Murdoch University campus or externally using the on-line learining system that provides lecture notes, recordings and selected readings.

Renewable Energy Short Courses
Designing and Installing PV Systems (Grid Connected)
8-9 September 2008 and again 10-11 November 2008 in Perth, Western Australia.
Photovoltaic technology (PV) is an important renewable energy technology which produces zero emissions, is modular, and can produce energy anywhere that the sun shines. Annual growth rate for photovoltaic production over the last five years has been on average more than 40% which makes PV one of the fastest growing industries in the world today. This two day course will provide an introduction to solar photovoltaic power systems and how they can be integrated into grid connected or stand-alone power applications.
The course covers the characteristics of photovoltaic modules and inverters suitable for connection to the grid. There are sessions that provide an introduction to PV systems and system design and design case studies are examined. The installation standards for PV grid connected systems (AS4777, AS5033 & AS3000) are also covered.
The course is presented by Nigel Wilmot, Manager Standards & Training and Dr Hari Sharma, Manager Testing from RISE.
The course is suitable for electrical contractors, accredited system designers and installers, utility representatives, electrical inspectors and electrical engineers who are involved in the installation of systems either as designers, specifiers or inspectors and academics and professionals working in the area of renewable energy and the environment.
