Applications for WA YMCA Youth Parliament 2020 are NOW OPEN
Youth Parliament (YP) is a YMCA WA program that gives passionate young people aged 15-25 an opportunity to engage with the WA parliamentary process while developing public speaking and debate skills. Participants take on the role of their local Member of Parliament, and alongside a Committee (e.g. - Women’s Interests, Education, Environment), draft a Bill on an issue they’re passionate about in that portfolio.
In July, participants all go on a week-long camp where they present and debate these Bills, alongside a number of other interesting topics, in the chambers of the WA Parliament (as well as having a tonne of fun)!
Most importantly, knowledge of politics is NOT necessary! All participants need is passion and to be ready to meet a bunch of like-minded young people.
So, if you, or someone you know, cares about something, whether it be related to education, multicultural or Indigenous affairs, youth (un)employment, supporting the arts, protecting the environment, or something entirely different - YMCA Youth Parliament want to see you (or them) apply!
