It's not every day you get to witness the power of collaboration and the impact it can have on the lives of young adults with disability, but that’s exactly what the Employment Buddy Program (EBP) does.
This initiative, in collaboration with Essential Personnel, aims to make a real difference in the lives of young adults, aged 15-24, with disability by giving them the opportunity to gain valuable skills and experience in their chosen career paths. Over the course of twelve weeks, participants attend supported, facilitated workshops before undertaking two four-hour ‘Buddy’ hosted work placements - made possible by the support and commitment of our participating organisations!
"I really enjoy being here because the people are nice. It's a very busy, but fun, place to work at. There's lots to always do, it's really cool. After doing the training I definitely feel I have a bit more confidence because I know what there is out there and know what to expect.” - Kaiden, EBP Participant
So far this year, over 20 organisations have committed to hosting work experience placements to help these young people better understand their dream career paths – and gain the skills to help them get there!
To all the participating organisations, we offer our heartfelt thank you for your incredible support and dedication to the Employment Buddy Program.
By opening your doors and providing these valuable work experience placements, you are making a tangible impact on the lives of young people with disability. You are not only helping them acquire new skills and experiences but also fostering a more inclusive and supportive community for everyone.
