City of Swan Supports Health and Wellbeing t Kira House

Thanks to the City of Swan, residents of Kira House have been busy taking part in a range of activities aimed at reducing anxiety and stress that young people may be experiencing as a result of COVID 19.

The young people supported at Kira have enjoyed a revamp of their bedrooms to include all things sensory, safe and comforting. So far we have created journals, diamond art, canvases, and showerbombs which is all focused on relaxation, self-care, stress managment and reflection. Our indoor garden has now been set up for yoga sessions, circuit and boxing.

Included is a photo of a necklace with the word 'strength', a young person chose this word because it was affirming to them, and supported their mental health. She stated 'now i have something positive I can wear all the time'.   The babies at Kira also got some TLC through baby massage and baby nutrition workshops!

Thanks again to the City of Swan for their support, and Kudos to Kira House staff Jo for putting it all together. We have had an overwhelming positive reponse from young people about the benefits of activities in supporting their wellbeing and look forward to supporting more young women and children through this program in the future.
