International Volunteer Day Celebrations
The International Volunteer Day for Economic and Social Development, more commonly referred to as International Volunteer Day, is an international observance mandated by the UN General Assembly in 1985. It is viewed as a unique chance for volunteers and organisations to celebrate their efforts, to share their values, and to promote their work among their communities. We celebrate every year and take along a group of our wonderful volunteers. Despite the super hot conditions we enjoyed another fabulous afternoon in the Lower Gardens of Government House enjoying a delicious afternoon tea and a few wines with His Excellency the Honourable Kim Beazley AC.
This year we were joined by Caitlyn and Kerryn from WAFEX who presented 20 posies of beautiful flowers to our volunteers. WAFEX is a flower export company in West Swan Rd, who adopted a policy of Random Acts of Kindness in 2015 to show their appreciation for the many volunteers in our communities. They selected Rise as the recipients of this year’s posies as they had heard many stories from our clients in the Mundaring Shire and they wanted to say thank you.
Our sincerest thanks to WAFEX for thinking of us and thank you to all of our amazing volunteers who support us to do what we do.
