We are having a fantastic week celebrating volunteers for National Volunteer Week. Here’s what some volunteers had to say at our special breakfast in Warwick this morning:
“I’ve been volunteering for 4 years. I like helping and hearing people’s stories. I get a buzz out of it. I drive clients to medical appointments or take them to Warwick (Arts Hub). It is in giving that we receive.” Trevor Allan
“It’s a really rewarding job – the look on their faces when you pick them up. When I retired I felt that I would like to give something back. It makes me feel good to support them and see them enjoy themselves. They are always grateful.” Larry Goodyear
“I really get a lot of satisfaction from making the lunches for them. You’d think you’ve just made some Cordon Bleu for them. They’d say 10/10 Kate. It’s really rewarding.” Kate Strahan
“I retired at the end of 2018. I wanted to do something and be helpful. I like talking to the people.” Liz Marsh
“I like working in the kitchen, helping do lunches. It gives me something to do. I help Trish in the kitchen, she’s a good friend.” Colleen Boyce
Volunteers were given a hand-made gift created by the artists at Rise’s Arts Hub.
