In a battle between baseless optimism and common sense, common sense did not win so here we are - myself, Dawn McAleenan, Rebecca Fitzpatrick (both former Rise colleagues!) and Bridget Harvey all having committed on a whim to cycling from Kalgoorlie to Perth, camping out each night, to raise funds for Youth Future's nest project.
It's a unique service providing housing, support, and essentials to young families escaping homelessness or domestic violence. Last year, they had to turn away 1500 requests for accommodation due to funding.
The Pipeline Challenge Ride aims to fill that gap, which we're worried will only get worse in current circumstances.
We cover all our costs of the ride so every donation goes straight to helping people who need our support right now.
It's really practical support too - helping with equipment for babies, supporting parents get back into work, advising on budgeting and nutrition. Your donation will be well spent!
We'll be working hard over every kilometre for every dollar donated - given none of us are cyclists. Tragically I even lost the blend a smoothie using your bike competition at work
