Kira House funding successful!
In partnership, Samaritans and Rise have been successful in securing funding to deliver an in-reach/outreach and telephone support psychosocial support program that complements and increases the capacity of the current Kira House staff and programs.
Samaritans have provided psychosocial, counselling and suicide and crisis intervention support to West Australian individuals and families via outreach services and their respected telephone helpline for over 53 years. Samaritans have over 100 active volunteers with the majority identifying as having a lived experience of mental health illness and/or AOD use.
This newly developed model of increased psychosocial support provided by Samaritans volunteers at the Kira House refuge, in the community and on the phone/internet will increases the capacity to respond to increase enquiries from young women requiring outreach support, support to young women when they transition from Kira House to other accommodation and into the community including their homes and enhance the psychosocial support young women at Kira House.
