Anzac Day, 25 April, is one of Australia’s most important national occasions. It is the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during World War 1.
The Rise community have been creating displays across our social centres and houses to commemorate the men and women who served our nation.
Cath Masters is the Cook at our Peter Anderton social centre. She created the beautiful display, pictured above of her family’s involvement in the World Wars. It is clear to see how proud Cath is of her family and what they sacrificed.
Helen Lucy created the display below at one of our supported accommodation houses.
Our community is also sharing the stories about their families and what ANZAC day means to them. Roy shared a photo of himself with his brother and dad. Roy’s dad, Horace served in WWII when Roy was just a boy.
“At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.”
