Lisa Begley To Speak On Behalf Of Rise At The National Volunteer Conference
Our Volunteer Coordinator Lisa Begley is attending the National Volunteer Conference at the Perth Exhibition and Convention Centre 18-20 March. The theme for this year is ‘Diversity, Power, Purpose’, exploring how volunteering fosters inclusive communities and positively influences societal change to shape the future of Australia.
This is the first time the conference has been held in Perth for 24 years and she is thrilled to be presenting on Day 2. The presentation is Mergers – Creating a New Culture. Lisa joined Rise as part of the merger with Home Help Local (now Yirra Mia) back in 2017 and has since been involved in the transition of two aged care contracts in 2017 and 2018 so she has experienced both sides of a merger/transition.
Effectively managing the coming together of different organisational cultures is vital to the success of a merger. A well-managed merger has the potential to reinvigorate an organisation however, if managed poorly, it has the potential to obstruct progress and create uncertainty. This presentation will look at how to engage volunteers in the merger journey and provide tips for engaging and consulting with leaders as well as some pitfalls experienced during the process.
