Minister for Disability presents athletes with their jerseys

Athletes from the Rise WA Inclusion Football Academy were presented with their jerseys by the Minister for Disability Services, Don Punch. The jersey ceremony kicked off round 6 of the training academy ran by WA All Abilities Football Association.


 
Mr Punch said "it’s really great to see people with all sorts of abilities getting involved in sport. Sport is such a great social connector for people. The athletes are great, just to see the teamwork, the camaraderie and the enthusiasm is really uplifting and there are heaps of supporters here to cheer them on.” 

Rise Director, Chris Minchin said "it’s great to be able to witness the first game of the academy. It demonstrates the passion and dedication that people with disability have for sport and life in general and Rise is proud to be the initial naming sponsor to assist in promoting the skills and dedication of the players.”

Policy Advisor, Crispin Roberts also attended the presentation and said that it’s It’s great to see the program go from a small group of players to a really large high-quality game today. “Inclusive sport is something that I’m very passionate about. People of all abilities love footy and everyone wants to have the opportunity to play it.

After the presentation players gathered into their respective teams for a few coaching tips and some last minute drills.

Finally as the sun was setting Mr Punch tossed the coin and then the match was underway. The athletes displayed exceptional skill and teamwork in the first game of the academy.
