On Monday 26
th July the Wahroonga Social Centre from Mundaring joined the Peter Anderton Centre at Forrestfield.
We had our very own Olympic celebrations with our very own Opening Ceremony.
The entrance into the Social Centre was our start and finish line, dressed in green, gold, and Olympic Torches.
After a beautiful morning tea and lunch, provided by our new Social Centre Cook Maria, all the staff and volunteers took part in a 3-legged race around the carpark, with one staff Olympian blindfolded, depending on their team mate to provide directions and carry the Olympic torch.
Our members were all lined up along the finish line, rugged up under blankets, cheering us all along.
Alex & Bryanna crossed the finish line in 1
st place, followed by Tracy & Maria 2
nd, then Sandra & Wendy 3
rd, Rhonda & Rebecca 4
th, followed by lucky last our amazing volunteers, Mary & Roger.
It was a fun event. Our staff and volunteers were fantastic!
It was a great way to start off our celebration of the Tokyo Olympics.
