Rise ILP tenant wins WAM Award for her song 'Ngany Koorlangka' (my Kid)

The West Australian song of the year was recently announced at the West Australian Music (WAM) Awards. Cyndy was nominated by the Community Arts Network for her Noongar language song 'Ngany Koorlangka' (my kid) that was part of the Lullabies album Ngaalang Moort (Our Family).

Overall there was 23 - 25,000 applicants, and for the country award there were 1200 applicants. Cyndy’s song went down to the final 6, and was voted by the country music awards, Boyup Brook for the WAM song of the year under the country category, and she won!

Cyndy shared that it was such an achievement for her and she was honoured to receive this great award which lifted her spirits knowing what she has been through over the past 2 years. She shared that it has inspired her to keep writing songs in her language.
