Rise Supports Vote Yes!

Rise supports VOTE YES! in the upcoming referendum on an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice to Parliament being enshrined in Australia’s Constitution. Read more about Rise's support in Justine Colyer, CEO’s notice.

We acknowledge that the Uluru Statement from the Heart recognised the impacts of history on our First Nations People and was a first step in reconciling the past and giving them justice. First Nations people have asked for that recognition to be demonstrated by giving them a voice in matters that affect their lives and communities.

We believe that creating a First Nations Voice to Parliament is the next step for all Australians to recognise the contribution Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People make to our country and give them self-determination on policies and laws that affect them.

We acknowledge that many are calling for more, however we believe that in supporting a YES vote in the upcoming referendum, our First Nation People have so much to gain.

The YES campaign aligns with Rise’s purpose for helping people live a great life and our value for respect, integrity, and optimism. This is our opportunity to help close the current health, education, and economic gaps for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People and future generations.

We are now closer than we have ever been to securing constitutional recognition for our First Nations People of Australia through a Voice to Parliament.

This is an opportunity for all Australians to play a part. We can all be allies.
