YSDLS is a free national legal service offering legal information and advice to people about safely sharing their story with the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability. The purpose of the Disability Royal Commission is to improve the lives of people with disability through the sharing of experiences of violence, neglect, abuse or exploitation.
The YSDLS is independent from the Disability Royal Commission. YSDLS is delivered by National Legal Aid and the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Services. They are able to support people with a disability, their families, carers, supporters and advocates to share their stories.
On the
Your Story Disability Legal Service website, there is a tab for Resources which you can find
here. There is an easy-to-read introduction fact sheet for people with disability available
here and an animation on how four different people with disabilities have shared their story, available
here. These resources are simple and easy for people to access.
