Bob Ross is a very well known American painter that uses oils to paint his masterpieces. He has became an icon in the oil painting scene. He was also the host of a television show called the Joy of Painting. The show aired 403 episodes from 1983 to 1994. You can find all of his instructional videos on YouTube.
Today, the Yirra Mia Centre challenged our Moorditj Art group to paint along to one of his videos. It was the first time that any of them had painted a landscape scene like this and it was definitely a challenge, as our ladies used acrylic paints which are a completely different form of media compared to the oils that Bob was using.
None of our ladies believed that they could paint at this level however by time they had finished the painting, they managed to find a new sense of self-confidence. It was empowering to see the smiles on their faces and how proud they were of what they had accomplished.
