“We are really excited about this program as it provides a unique opportunity for 50 young people to become employment ready through using a combination of workshops and tailored coaching.
At the start of the program, the young person is asked about their dream job and behind the scenes we try to secure a placement for them in this role. Once we have secured the placement, the young person will then implement their learning via a recruitment process which reflects the real world. If they successfully secure the placement and complete the program they are invited to attend an awards ceremony. We have seen a growing interest in the program with many registrations coming through already.
One unique part of this program is that we are partnering with Rise to engage and upskill employers by facilitating a ‘
Buddy training program’. This part of the program equips the
employer with information relevant to the young person and disability, enabling them to provide an inclusive and quality placement.
How can you get involved:
- Please refer any young people that meet the criteria to the program here essentialpersonnel.org.au/EBP (criteria: 15-24 years, have a disability, can commit to 8 hours per week for 3 months); and/ or
- If you have a role in your organisation that you feel could provide the young person with a dream opportunity for 4 hours and you have a champion you would like to put forward to be a Buddy, email reception@essentialpersonnel.org.au
Please note, the young person does not need to have an NDIS plan, but must have a disclosed disability.
