Yirra Mia World Tour Series: India

By Rise
01 September 2020
This month Yirra Mia flew the crew to India.

The centre was adorned with colourful decorations, lotus flowers, lights, spices and lanterns. All of our staff, clients and volunteers even dressed up in beautiful Indian outfits for the occasion. As the clients walked through the entrance doors, the staff welcomed them to India with a flower garland to wear around their necks and a bindi to wear on their foreheads for the day. We learnt some Bollywood dancing steps in our chairs which gave everyone a good workout for the day. We also played a game where we had to pin the gem on the Maharajah.

Our photobooth has always been one of the most popular showcases at Yirra Mia and this time we had a big yellow tuk-tuk for the clients to take a ride in!

However, the star of the show was the Turban tying competition. The centre was roaring with laughter as our staff duked it out in the ring to see who could tie their turban the fastest using a toilet paper roll. Have a look at how they went!

For lunch, our cook Paul made delicious curry dishes with pilaf rice, naan bread, yoghurt and papadums. Overall everyone had an amazing time.

We're excited and can't wait to share more of our travel adventures with everyone. Tune in for more with Yirra Mia as we take on our next travel destination upcoming in September!.
