Rise
The event brought together children from Telethon Speech and Hearing and Football Futures Foundation’s iLeague for a day of fun and football, featuring special appearances by AC Milan legends Franco Baresi, Daniele Massaro, and Serginho.
Jokingly saying, "I don't know what I'm doing, but I like doing it," Bailie’s genuine enthusiasm and honesty were well-received by everyone involved. His love for movement and familiarity with football made his experience even more enjoyable.
Bailie’s rapport with the kids was particularly special. With a nephew the same age as the participants, he quickly formed friendships and had a blast. After all, there’s nothing wrong with having a bit of fun at work!
The Employment Buddy Program, a partnership between Rise and Essential Personnel, empowers young people with disability to explore their dream career paths through hands-on experience and skill-building. Bailie’s experience was one of two work placements being undertaken as part of the program.
Art Hiemstra, Football Futures Foundation, Programs & Operations Manager was thrilled to have Bailie on board. "Having Bailie with us was fantastic. Football Futures is all about giving young people opportunities, and Bailie was great to work with." Bailie was very ‘on the ball’, and Art stated they would be excited to welcome more students like him.
